One Day Before the Birthday Party _ The day before the party, go through the birthday party checklist from the weeks before and confirm booking with the entertainment, venue, and any food delivery service (like pizza). If the venue is your own home, some of the final birthday preparation will be cleaning. Make sure anything dangerous or fragile is put away. Once the party area is clean, it's time to make a mess in the kitchen. Prep any party snacks or appetizers and start baking the birthday cake. If the birthday party is for a younger kid, make sure they are prepared to say "thank you" for every gift.
Sweet Endings _ The Cake _ Talk to your child about what she would like. A cake is a good option, but so are cupcakes, ice cream sundaes or even big cookies. You can incorporate the theme (if you have one) either by baking your own cake and decorating with small toys or even trying your hand at drawing something. Local bakeries, grocery stores and many big_box retailers (think Sam's Club or BJ's) can also make theme cakes to order. You may even want to let your young guests get in on the act __ bake a bunch of cupcakes, put out icing, sprinkles and other decorations like chocolate candies and let them get to work creating a culinary masterpiece.
